{"wiki":"en","slug":"guide-ip-group","markdown":"# Configuring the intercom group of a Behnke Station\n\nThis setup guide describes how to set or change the intercom group of a Behnke Station.\n\nAn intercom group logically combines outdoor and indoor stations into a shared intercom system. Outdoor and indoor stations within the same group can communicate directly with each other.\n\nA Behnke IP intercom system can be divided into up to `9` intercom groups.\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> In simple installations, usually only intercom group `1` is used.\n>\n> Multiple groups are mainly useful when different areas of a system are to be logically separated from each other.\n\n<!-- block: welche-auswirkung-hat-die-sprechanlagengruppe -->\n## 1. What effect does the intercom group have?\n\nThe intercom group determines which devices logically belong together.\n\nFor example, all devices at a main entrance can be assigned to group `1` and all devices at a delivery area to group `2`.\n\n```text\nGruppe 1\n├── Außenstation Haupteingang\n├── Innenstation Empfang\n└── Innenstation Büro\n\nGruppe 2\n├── Außenstation Anlieferung\n└── Innenstation Lager\n```\n\nAn indoor station automatically displays the detected outdoor stations of the same intercom group in its phone book.\n\nDirect dialing of an indoor station via its intercom ID also initially refers to its own intercom group.\n\n<!-- block: sprechanlagengruppe-ueber-die-weboberflaeche-aen -->\n## 2. Changing the intercom group via the web interface\n\n%[BS_LOGIN_INFO](BS_LOGIN_INFO)%\n\n- In the sidebar on the left, click the menu item %BS_MENU_IP_SPRECHANLAGE%\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom, intercom group](uploads/fe700a91b2257f4f9ba64e3caee90f93/grafik.png)\n\n- Look for the option **Group**\n- A value between `1` and `9` can be set for the intercom group.\n- Click %BS_MENU_SPEICHERN_ROT% to save the configuration\n\nThe Behnke Station is now assigned to the selected intercom group.\n\n> [!IMPORTANT]\n> Devices that are meant to work directly with each other must be assigned to matching intercom groups.\n>\n> If, for example, only the outdoor station is changed from group `1` to group `2`, it no longer belongs to the same group as an indoor station that still uses group `1`.\n\n<!-- block: sprechanlagengruppe-bei-der-erstkonfiguration-fe -->\n## 3. Setting the intercom group during initial configuration\n\nIf the Behnke Station is still in its factory default state, the intercom group can also be set during initial configuration.\n\nFor an outdoor station, this can be done using the configuration button.\n\nAfter selecting the operating mode `Sprechanlagenmodus` (intercom mode), you are asked for the desired intercom group.\n\nThe following applies:\n\n```text\n1 Mal drücken → Gruppe 1\n2 Mal drücken → Gruppe 2\n3 Mal drücken → Gruppe 3\n...\n9 Mal drücken → Gruppe 9\n```\n\nAfter the selection, the setting is saved.\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> For a device that has already been configured, the intercom group cannot be changed again using the configuration button.\n>\n> A later change is possible via the web interface or configuration mode.\n\n<!-- block: sprechanlagengruppe-einer-innenstation -->\n## 4. Intercom group of an indoor station\n\nFor an indoor station, the intercom group is also set during setup.\n\nFor an indoor station with a display, the desired group can be selected directly during initial configuration.\n\n![Selecting intercom groups in the initial configuration of the indoor station](uploads/33c8f7a87b95c2e32b9b105cd97b0c6f/grafik.png)\n\nMake sure the indoor station is assigned to the group in which the associated outdoor stations are located.\n\n<!-- block: pruefen-der-gruppenzuordnung -->\n## 5. Checking the group assignment\n\nIn systems with multiple Behnke Stations, the group assignment can be checked via the topology of the IP intercom system.\n\nThe topology is located under the menu item %BS_MENU_IP_SPRECHANLAGE%\n\nThere, the detected Behnke Stations and their assignment to the individual intercom groups are displayed.\n\n![Web interface menu item IP intercom, Topology section](uploads/26a8b930d097ae64516e298da8f8536a/grafik.png)\n\nThis is particularly helpful if multiple groups are used or a station is not found as expected.\n\n<!-- block: innenstation-einer-anderen-gruppe-anrufen -->\n## 6. Calling an indoor station in another group\n\nNormally, within the same group only the intercom ID of the indoor station is used as the call number.\n\nExample:\n\n```text\nID 2 → Rufnummer 2\n```\n\nAn indoor station in a different intercom group can also be called.\n\nFor this, a three-digit call number is used:\n\n```text\n[Gruppe][zweistellige ID]\n```\n\nExample:\n\n```text\nGruppe: 2\nID: 1\n\nRufnummer: 201\n```\n\nThe call number `201` thus addresses the indoor station with ID `1` in intercom group `2`.\n\n> [!NOTE]\n> The use of multiple intercom groups and cross-group connections is covered in more detail in a separate setup guide.\n\n<!-- block: zusammenfassung -->\n## 7. Summary\n\nThe following basic rules apply to the intercom group:\n\n- every Behnke Station belongs to an intercom group\n- possible groups are `1` to `9`\n- the default is group `1`\n- outdoor and indoor stations of the same group can communicate directly with each other\n- outdoor stations of the same group are automatically displayed in the phone book of an indoor station\n- a later change is possible via the web interface or configuration mode\n- indoor stations of other groups can be addressed via a three-digit call number\n\n<!-- block: faq -->\n## 8.
