Privacy Policy

In accordance with Art. 13 and 14 GDPR, this privacy policy explains which personal data we process when you visit this wiki, for which purposes, on which legal basis, to whom we disclose it and how long we keep it.

3. Hosting, Server Log Files and Content Delivery

This wiki and our support server (behnke.support) run on virtual servers in Germany that we manage ourselves. The server infrastructure is provided, as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR), by:

With every request your browser necessarily transmits data to the server: IP address, date and time, requested page, referrer URL, browser type and operating system. This data is stored in server log files in order to deliver the website and to ensure its stability and security (e.g. to fend off attacks). It is not merged with other data sources, is rotated automatically and deleted after 14 days at the latest.

Some stylesheets, scripts and images are loaded from our content server cdn.behnke.support; your IP address is transmitted to this server as well. We do not embed fonts, scripts or content from Google, social media providers or other third parties.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the wiki securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Cookies and Browser Storage

We only use technically necessary cookies (session and anonymous visit counting). The wiki also stores settings such as recently viewed pages, bookmarks or accessibility options in your browser's local storage (localStorage/sessionStorage). These entries stay on your device and are not transmitted to us. The legal basis is Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German TDDDG and, for subsequent processing, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. 5. Usage Statistics and Feedback

To improve the wiki, we collect the following on our own server, without third-party services:

• Page views, reading time, scroll depth, device class (smartphone/tablet/desktop), type of origin (internal, search engine, external, direct) and the previously visited wiki page. Only aggregated counts are stored, no IP addresses.
• To count unique visitors, a day-specific check value is derived from the anon_id cookie and deleted the following day. Only totals remain afterwards.
• Search terms entered in the wiki search, without reference to a person, to identify frequent and unsuccessful searches. Search terms that recognisably contain personal data (e.g. e-mail addresses or phone numbers) are neither executed nor recorded.
• Ratings and voluntary comments submitted via the feedback functions. Please do not include personal data in comments. Comments are deleted automatically after 30 days; the number of ratings is kept.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving our information service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. "Ask the wiki AI" (AI-assisted answers)

With "Ask the wiki AI" you can ask a question in some areas of this wiki, which an AI answers on the basis of the wiki content. You reach the feature through "Ask the wiki AI" next to the page title, the button at the bottom right and the search. Answers are marked as AI-generated. Its use is voluntary; the search also works without AI.

a) Result list

The list of matching pages is produced by this wiki's own search on our own server. Your search text is not transmitted to third parties or to an AI service for this. For the evaluation of search terms, see section 5.

b) AI answer and transfer to the USA (third country)

"Ask the wiki AI" is switched off at first. Only after you have explicitly chosen "Yes, use AI answers" in the "Ask the wiki AI" panel and then submit a question is your question (max. 300 characters) transmitted via our support server and our in-house AI service to the language model Claude, which generates an answer based on the wiki content. The provider and our processor is:

The processing itself is carried out by its parent company Anthropic, PBC in the USA.

• Data transmitted: only the text of your question and – if you ask on a wiki page and keep the page reference shown switched on – the title of that page. Your IP address, cookies or browser data are not transmitted.
• Pre-filter: Before the question leaves the wiki, it is checked in your browser and again on our wiki server, and then once more on our support server. If it recognisably contains personal or technical identifiers (e.g. e-mail addresses, IBANs, phone numbers, IP or MAC addresses, host names, SIP addresses, longer digit sequences), it is not sent. The filter cannot detect every piece of information. Please therefore do not enter any personal data in your question.
• Third-country transfer: Anthropic processes the data in the USA, i.e. outside the EU and the EEA. The USA does not generally offer a level of data protection equivalent to EU law; in particular, US authorities may be able to access data without you having effective legal remedies against this. The transfer is based on the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR), which form part of the data processing agreement with Anthropic. You may request a copy of these safeguards using the contact details above. The subprocessors used by Anthropic are listed at anthropic.com/subprocessors.
• No use for training: Anthropic processes the questions as a processor solely to generate the answer, does not use them to train AI models under the contractual terms, and retains them only for a limited period, in particular to detect misuse.
• Retention on our side: Question and answer are deleted from our support server after 7 days. The wiki itself does not store questions; your session only remembers the reference number of your request for at most 15 minutes, so that only you can retrieve the answer. Your browser keeps the questions and answers of the current session in session storage (sessionStorage); they are deleted when you close the browser tab.
• Switching on and off: your choice ("Yes, use AI answers" or "No thanks") is stored only in your browser's local storage (localStorage) and is not transmitted to us. You can switch AI answers off again at any time in the "Ask the wiki AI" panel.
• Legal basis: our legitimate interest in offering visitors fast self-help for our products (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Since you trigger the answer yourself and only the question text is transmitted, our assessment is that your interests do not override ours.

AI answers are generated automatically and may be incorrect or incomplete. The linked wiki pages and manuals are authoritative. No automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

c) Abuse protection

To prevent abuse and limit costs, the number of AI answers is limited per visitor and day and in total per day. For the per-visitor limit your IP address is not stored; only a hash value formed with a random key that changes every day is kept together with the request times. Keys and entries are deleted after two days at the latest; after that, no link back to the IP address is possible. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

7. Support Requests and Error Reports

Support request

Via the support form we collect first name, last name, company, phone number and e-mail address (mandatory), the type of your request and your description (mandatory), and optionally details on your device and its environment (serial number, firmware version, platform, operating mode, PBX or SIP provider, remote station, project). We also transmit from which wiki page you opened the form so that we can classify your request.

Optionally you can attach files: images (e.g. screenshots) and diagnostic data of your Behnke Station. Diagnostic data contains logs and the configuration of the device and, depending on the setup, may contain personal data such as IP addresses, phone numbers, subscriber identifiers, call times and recordings of network traffic; credentials are partly stored there in encrypted form. Please only attach files you are allowed to share for handling your request. Attachments are checked for file type and structure before sending and are not stored in the wiki.

The request is sent with its attachments by e-mail to our support team and handled in our self-operated ticket system. Without the mandatory information we cannot process your request. To prevent misuse, the number of tickets per visitor and hour is limited; your IP address is not stored for this, only a hash formed with a regularly changing random key, which is deleted after two hours at the latest.

Reporting an error on a wiki page

Via "Report error" you submit the type of error, title and description, the address (URL) of the affected page, your browser identifier (user agent; visible and editable in the form) and optionally your e-mail address for follow-up questions. The report is sent by e-mail to our editorial team.

The legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures or of our contractual obligations (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in handling requests and correcting errors (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the data once the request has been fully dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations (in particular under German commercial and tax law) apply. To protect against automated submissions, your browser unobtrusively solves a small computational task while you fill in the form (proof of work, software “ALTCHA”), which is issued and checked exclusively by our own server. No cookies are set and no data is passed to third parties; in addition we check the time taken to fill in the form and a control field that is invisible to people (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Sending e-mails

We use the following service providers as processors to send the e-mails:

• One.com Group AB, Carlsgatan 3, 211 20 Malmö, Sweden
• Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) of Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg; processing in the Frankfurt am Main data centre. As AWS belongs to a US group, access by US authorities cannot be completely ruled out. For this case, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) are agreed in the data processing agreement with AWS.

8. Read-Aloud Function

The read-aloud function of the accessibility options uses your browser's speech output. Depending on the browser and the selected voice, the page text being read may be processed by your browser's vendor (e.g. Google for online voices in Chrome). We have no influence on this; the function only starts at your request.

9. Recipients

Within our company, only those departments that need your data for the stated purposes receive it. External recipients are our server provider STRATO (section 3), Anthropic for "Ask the wiki AI" (section 6 b) and One.com and Amazon Web Services for sending e-mails (section 7). All service providers are contractually bound as processors. We operate the ticket system and the search service ourselves. Data is only transferred to third countries as part of "Ask the wiki AI". We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

10. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process your data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint: You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Unabhängiges Datenschutzzentrum Saarland, Fritz-Dobisch-Straße 12, 66111 Saarbrücken, Germany.

11. Obligation to Provide Data, Automated Decisions

You are not obliged to provide us with personal data. However, the wiki cannot be displayed without the technically transmitted connection data, and we cannot process your request without the mandatory information in the support form. No automated decision-making including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR) takes place.

12. SSL/TLS Encryption

This wiki uses TLS encryption. The connections between our servers, to Anthropic and to our e-mail providers are encrypted as well.

13. Changes

We update this privacy policy when our service or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies.
