Configuring Two Door Stations That Call Two Indoor Stations – with Cross-Group Button Function
1. Introduction
This setup guide describes the configuration of Behnke intercom stations and Behnke indoor stations in IP intercom mode. The setup shown is based on a network structure with a PoE switch, through which both the power supply and the network communication of the devices are provided.
Depending on the scenario, different group and ID assignments can be configured to implement the desired call logic between the intercom station and the indoor stations. It is assumed that:
- all devices are connected to a PoE switch and have already started up,
- the basic initial commissioning of the devices has been completed,
- valid IP addresses have been assigned,
- the web interfaces of the devices are reachable.
This guide describes only the respective group, ID and button configuration.
2. Setup overview
Functional description
Device A
Button 1 → calls indoor station A (group 1)
Device B
Button 1 → calls indoor station B (group 2)
Button 2 → calls indoor station A (group 1, cross-group)

3 Configuration of door station A
3.1 Assign intercom operating mode and name
Operating mode: IP intercom
Device name: enter the device name in the "Name" field (e.g. "Entrance A").
This name is shown on the indoor station when a call comes in.

3.2 Set the group
Group: 1

3.3 Button assignment
Button 1 → com:1
Explanation:
com:1 calls ID 1 within the configured group (group 1). This means door station A calls indoor station A.

4 Configuration of indoor station A
4.1 Assign intercom operating mode and name
Operating mode: IP intercom
Device name: e.g. "Monitor Group 1"

4.2 Assign group and ID
Group: 1
ID: 1
The call is only delivered correctly if group and ID match.

5 Configuration of door station B
5.1 Assign intercom operating mode and name
Operating mode: IP intercom
Device name: enter the device name in the "Name" field (e.g. "Entrance B").
This name is shown on the called indoor station

5.2 Set the group and define the device name
Group: 2

5.3 Button assignment
Button 1 → com:1 → calls indoor station B (group 2, ID 1)
Button 2 → com:101 → calls indoor station A (group 1, ID 1)

Explanation of cross-group dialing
The destination address is composed as follows: com:group-ID
The following applies: First digit = target group Next two digits = ID Example:
- com:101
- "1" = group 1
- "01" = ID 1
This makes it possible to dial a specific indoor station in group 1 from group 2.
6 Configuration of indoor station B
6.1 Assign intercom operating mode and name
Operating mode: IP intercom
Device name, e.g. "Monitor Group 2"

6.2 Assign group and ID
Group: 2
ID: 1

7. Function test
After completing the configuration, perform the following test:
- Press button 1 on door station A → Only indoor station A rings
- Press button 1 on door station B → Only indoor station B rings
- Press button 2 on door station B → Indoor station A rings
If the call is not delivered correctly, check the following points:
Group assignment ID setting Correct entry of the destination address (e.g. com:1 or com:101) Network connection
Technical note
Cross-group dialing via com:101 enables flexible call concepts, for example:
- The rear entrance additionally calls the main monitor
- The gate calls the house and the office
- Gatekeeper function
- This structure is particularly useful for larger systems.
