Configuration guide Linphone® Free SIP Service

1. Configuration guide

This configuration guide describes how to operate a Behnke Station with a Linphone® Free SIP Service Account. We assume that you already created a Linphone® account for the Behnke station, and we only describe the steps required to set up the Behnke station. We also assume that the Behnke station has already been integrated into the network and is accessible via the IP address in a browser. If you are using a Behnke Station with a USB camera or an IP camera integrated as a system camera, you can trigger SIP video calls to the Linphone® app for smartphones from the Behnke Station. A setup guide for the Linphone® app can be found via the following link: Linphone® App for Android® and iOS. There is also a desktop software for Microsoft® Windows®: Linphone® Desktop for Microsoft® Windows®.

1.1. Creating a Linphone® Free SIP Service account for your Behnke Station

If you have not already done so, first create a Linphone® Free SIP Service account for your Behnke Station. To do this, please go to the Linphone® website. Please note that Telecom Behnke GmbH has no influence on the availability or any costs incurred through the use of the service. Only Linphone's® terms of use on their website apply to use.

1.2. Configuring the Behnke Station

  • Open a new tab in your browser, enter the IP address of the Behnke Station in the address bar and log in.

  • Click on "SIP Phone" in the menu. Scroll down to "SIP account 1" and select the option "yes" for "Register".

NOTE: If you are already operating the Behnke Station as an extension of your PBX, you can also use SIP account 2 to register with the Linphone® service. In this case, you could, for example, use a call button to trigger a call via your PBX (SIP account 1) and use another button to make a video call via the Linphone® service to the Linphone® app (SIP account 2). A configuration guide for calls via different SIP accounts can be found via the following link: Registration with two different SIP accounts simultaneously

  • Then fill in the fields with your Linphone® account's SIP credentials as follows and click "Save" on the left.

Field Behnke Station Value Linphone® account
Phone number/user name user name with "@sip.linphone.org"
User ID user name (without "@sip.linphone.org")
    Password password
Communication specify SIP domain and request server via DNS
    Domain sip.linphone.org
    Port 5061
    Transmission protocol TLS
    Media encryption SRTP
    Force media encryption no

If the registration was successful, the "Registration state" changes to registered.

  • Then scroll down and enable AVPF mode. Then click "Save" again.

  • Then click "Buttons" in the menu on the left. Enter the telephone number or the Linphone® account name for the desired call button that is to be called when the button is pressed. Then click "Save" on the left.

NOTE: If you used SIP account 2 to register with the Linphone® Free SIP Service, and use SIP account 1 to register with your PBX for example, you must specify here via which SIP account you want to make the call. You can find a configuration guide for this via the following link: Calls via different SIP accounts

  • The configuration is now complete. If you are using a Behnke Station with a USB camera or an IP camera integrated as a system camera, you can trigger SIP video calls to the Linphone® app for smartphones from the Behnke Station. You can find a configuration guide for the Linphone® app via the following link: Linphone® App for Android® and iOS. You can also use the Linphone® desktop software for Microsoft® Windows®: Linphone® Desktop for Microsoft® Windows®.
